This unique pen was handcrafted from MacKenzie Gymnasium hardwood flooring, removed during the late summer of 2000 as part of an extensive renovation. Constructed in 1952, the gym was first dedicated to Bernard MacKenzie in 1976 in recognition of his many years of service (1945-1976) to Old Town High School. The gym was rededicated to Mr. MacKenzie in November of 2000. MacKenzie Gym has been the site of both school and community activities. Since its construction, the gym has been used as a theater, concert hall, dance floor, athletic facility, and meeting hall. This pen may serve as a reminder of the fond memories associated with this gym. Proceeds from the sale of this pen will benefit Old Town High School and the youth of the Old Town area.
