Each of these individually handcrafted pens are made from old oak lobster traps that have been retired by Maine lobstermen. The discoloration and unique graining of each pen is caused by the many years each bit of oak has been soaking in the sea. I wonder how many lobsters these traps have caught and how many times the traps have been dropped to the ocean floor. The traps I use are well beyond repair and would have been discarded if they had not been saved and crafted into these beautiful pens.
